WhatsApp offers help for users with many unread messages

Meta app’s new feature to assist users manage unread chats

WhatsApp is reportedly doing work on a new option which will let users have more control in managing their unread message count in its Android version.

As this new feature is currently under development, beta testers who have already registered through the Google Play Beta Program are likely to not receive its access.

The upcoming feature may be a benefit for those who receive a lot of messages on the app and don’t find it easy to manage conversations as a consequence of it.

The Meta-owned instant messaging platform is testing a new feature that will reset the unread message count every time a user opens the app, according to WABetaInfo.

Though the feature was spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.11.13, it is currently not active. Moreover, beta users may not find it when they install the latest beta build.

After the screenshot shared by the publication, a new Settings option has been included in Notifications. As of now, under the Light option, users can see two options, in which the first one lets them enable previews of notifications and another shows notifications for reactions.
