Fear In Trump’s MAGA Base As He Finally Breaks Another Rule That Could Put Him in Prison

The criminal prosecution of Donald Trump in New York took an unexpected turn when legal experts highlighted possible breaches of the gag order imposed by the court.

On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, Newsweek reported that there were rumors that Trump may have disregarded the ruling by having his backers speak outside of court.

Numerous media sources have reported that Trump sent notes to his political associates giving them instructions on how to respond to the media during his trial for fabricating financial records about hush money payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels prior to the 2016 election.

This action might be a violation of the gag order, which forbids Trump from talking about prospective witnesses or the jury.

Attorney David R. Lurie of New York expressed worries on X, stating that the notes that Trump passed may be used as proof of breaches of the gag order.

Lurie emphasized that these notes are not confidential records and might contain information that Trump’s associates told the media, which would be against the court’s ruling.

Regarding the gag order, Trump, the likely Republican presidential nominee in 2024, and the court have had several run-ins.

Overseeing the trial, Judge Juan Merchan, fined Trump $1,000 for the tenth time for contempt of court because of prior violations of the gag order. Merchan issued a warning, threatening to sentence the former president to prison for any more transgressions.

Trump has previously broken the gag order by criticizing the supposed prejudice of the jury against him and by making derogatory remarks about witnesses such as Stormy Daniels and his former attorney Michael Cohen.

One of Trump’s closest allies, Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, urged other Republicans to back Trump in his effort to lift the gag order.

After attending Trump’s trial on Monday along with other Republican senators including J.D. Vance and Rick Scott, Tuberville made his call.

According to Tuberville, on Newsmax, they went to “speak our piece for President Trump” and encouraged other legislators to follow suit.

Similar to Tuberville, Vance denounced the trial and referred to it as a “sham” and “witch hunt” designed to sway the 2024 election.

Vance’s remarks sparked curiosity since they echoed Trump’s statements and presented a united front opposing the validity of the trial.

But given that Cohen is a key witness in the case, if Trump had said these things on his own, they probably would have violated the gag order.

As of right now, Newsweek has not received a response to its requests for comment from Tuberville, Vance, Scott, or Trump’s legal representative.

As Trump navigates legal hurdles and maintains political backing from important supporters, the trial continues to garner attention.

An already complicated legal struggle is further complicated by the claims of breaching the gag order.
