While on her Calm Down podcast with fellow NFL reporter Erin Andrews, the 41-year-old shared that her close friends, the Los Angeles Rams quarterback and his wife, introduced her to her boyfriend.
“Dan, the story there is that Matthew Stafford and Kelly were sick of me dating losers and they were like ‘We have a great guy for you,’ ” Thompson told guest Dan Patrick.
She added, laughing: “So they were the matchmakers. So it was vetted. I know the social security and the bank account now, so all is right.”
Thompson’s now-boyfriend — marketing executive Steven Cundari — also has the endorsement of her fellow podcast host.
“I love him,” Andrews, 45, said. “I basically call him her husband because I’m thinking it into existence.”
The Thursday Night Football broadcaster was previously married to sports agent Kyle Thousand, before they divorced last year.
Thompson and Andrews have a track record of playing matchmakers themselves.
On an episode of their podcast from early August, they made the case that Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift should date.
“Taylor, I don’t know what you are doing in your life right now besides rocking the world,” Andrews said. “Please try our friend Travis. He is fantastic.”
She added, “This is one Taylor, I know we’re not the best of friends, we’re not even friends, but I consider you one. Take us up on this. Go on a date with this guy. Do it for America.”
Thompson then agreed. “Do it for yourself, do it for us and do it for the people because there is no one that would give you a better time than this guy.”
They recently reposted the clip on Instagram now that the tight end and the popstar are actually dating, and Kelce credited the duo for any role they may have played in him making the catch.
“😂😂 You two are something else!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻” the 34-year-old wrote. “I owe you big time!”
